Organizational Status: Independent NGO, founded in 1958.
General Description: OGA was founded in 1958 with the aim of encouraging and deepening the interest in foreign policy questions among the Austrian public. The society regards itself as a platform for information and discussion on foreign policy questions, a form for developing concepts and future perspectives, and a meeting place for personalities involved in politics, economics, culture and diplomacy in Austria and internationally. These aims are achieved in three ways: lectures (about two per month), especially by foreign guests on official or unofficial visit to Austria, the annual Foreign Policy Talks at Hernstein Castle and, for sponsoring members, background talks with Austrian and foreign representatives from the political and economic communities.
