Organizational Status: Independent NGO, founded in 1994.
General Description: ISIS studies post-Cold War security and international developments in the Balkans and the Black Sea/Caspian Sea regions as well as the policies of neighboring and international countries, particularly major centers of power. These studies are carried out on an academic basis and include the Euro-Atlantic integration of Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe. A major focus of activities is civil-military relations and the democratic control of the armed forces.
