Organizational Status: University-affiliated institute, founded in 1958.

General Description: CEDE is a technical, nonpolitical and independent center that conducts analyses of the development process in Colombia. It was founded with the objective of studying economic and social development in both national and international contexts and to carry out theoretical and empirical projects in the areas of demography, education and the labor market, natural resources and the environment, poverty and income distribution, violence and economics, regulation, macroeconomics, tax policies, urban economics, agrarian economics, institutional economics and industrial organization. As an integral part of the School of Economics at the University of the Andes, the staff at CEDE devote two-thirds of their time to research and one-third to teaching.
