Organizational Status: Independent NGO, founded in 2001.

General Description: CSDI is taking a multilateral focus on global problems related to the security and national defense of Cuba. CSDI bases its work on a small group of permanent researchers, specialists, and support personnel as well as institutions and national and foreign experts who work voluntarily as scientific collaborators for the center. CSDI concentrates its main efforts on research activities and joint projects with national and foreign institutions with similar goals. The main lines of research include international, regional, and national security concepts, policies, mechanisms, and facts; disarmament and arms control issues; regional conflicts; and global military power. CSDI also undertakes research in global problems, such as terrorism, drug trafficking and countermeasures, and migration. The center promotes and facilitates opportunities to increase the professional expertise of researchers through postgraduate courses, master's degrees, doctorates and so on. Collaboration and international relations are carried out through scientific and academic events, the sharing of information, postgraduate courses, exchanges, and meetings.
