Organizational Status: Independent institute, founded in 1960.

General Description: ESRI's mission is to produce substantive research relevant to Ireland's economic and social development, with the aim of informing policy-making and societal understanding. ESRI's research has been a vital constituent of the national debate for over 40 years, its in-depth analysis underpinning many key national decisions, including membership of the Economic and Monetary Union, undertaking the National Development Plan, and policies to combat poverty.
