Organizational Status: Independent institute, founded in 1993.

General Description: MSRC was set up primarily to advance the understanding of Malaysia's domestic and international activities and its impact and ramifications on the region and the world and vice versa. The primary mission of MSRC is to enhance and promote knowledge in a number of areas, including socio-economics, education, business, politics, and security. As the nation strives to become a developed and industrialized country, its citizenry, too, must be adequately prepared, and knowledge, being a source of power, is one of the keys to success. As such, MSRC seeks to further enrich the quality of knowledge and information on Malaysia and its roles in the international arena.
