Organizational Status: University-affiliated institute, founded in 1985.
General Description: WERI's key areas of scientific and academic activities are the world economy and its influence on the Polish economy; global aspects of economic development; foreign trade and foreign direct investment; international economic relations and their impact on the development of the Polish economy; major problems of transition in Central Europe and Eastern Europe; and the economies of the United States, Germany, Russia, and the Baltic States. Teaching, advisory, and publishing activities are pursued in these areas. The mission of WERI, an internal unit of Warsaw School of Economics, is the study of developments and processes in the sphere of international economics, with special emphasis on how these affect the Polish economy.
