Organizational Status: Independent NGO, founded in 1993.
General Description: ESRF was established as an institution for research and policy analysis based on the assumption that there is a need and demand for an improved understanding of policy options and development management issues and that the capacity for this was lacking in the Tanzanian civil service. The primary objectives of ESRF are to strengthen capabilities in policy analysis and development management and enhance the understanding of policy options in the government, public sector, civil society, donor community, and the growing private sector. Moreover, ESRF has put in place qualified professional staff, modest resources, and a favorable research environment for the analysis and discussion of economic and social policies.
