EBRI's mission is to advance the knowledge and understanding of employee benefits and their importance to the nation's economy among the public, the media, and policymakers. The institute has earned widespread regard as an organization that speaks plainly, an approach addressed specifically in its bylaws, which state, "In all its activities, the Institute shall function strictly in an objective and unbiased manner and not as an advocate or opponent of any position."
